SPLIT PERSONALITIES : The Good Tristen....when she listens to Mommy
SPLIT PERSONALITIES: The Not so Good Tristen.....when she throws things at Mommy while shoppingSo I just wrote a blog entry a few hours ago about the busy month Jason and I have ahead of us, yet I am writing another post after my lovely trip to the grocery store this afternoon. One might get the impression that it was an interesting trip to the store...hmmmm, interesting is certainly not the word I was thinking of. So Tristen is starting to socialize more with the other kids in playgroup and in nursery...this is a good thing. I am happy that her little personality is developing...however, I did not know this would include the very DEVIL himself possessing her at times as we go shopping at the store. I was hoping that last week's Hobby Lobby incident was an isolated occurrence. Hmmmm, nope I was wrong. Tristen has developed a wonderful talent of throwing things...heavy things at that. I know I used to do track and field when I was in high school and used to throw the shotput and javelin..... however I did not think Tristen would pick up her throwing skills at such a young age. So I am at hobby lobby (trying to enjoy some last minute shopping before my world is turned upside down with the lack of sleep that I am anticipating with the new arrival) when all of a sudden Tristen starts throwing a metal wall hanging item outside of the cart (yes she is in the big part of the cart b/c she now freaks out and screams if you put her in the "kid/baby" seat where she is supposed to sit). So I give Tristen the benefit of the doubt that it slipped out of her hands or that it was an accident. Hmmm, wrong again. As I bend over and pick it up, which is not exactly cute or easy when you are w/ child and due in a couple of weeks, when all of a sudden I see out of the corner of my eye another one of the metal wall hangings coming towards my head. Tristen at this point has a fun little grin on her little face. As I redirected her, with the audience of cashiers in front of me, I must admit I was not particularily happy at this point (Ok, mommy gave Tristen "the stare"..I think all moms have the "ok I done with you stare"). But at this point in time I came to the conclusion that maybe she was having an off day...it makes me feel good to think this b/c I don't even want to think of how I am going to handle her and a new born shopping if this is going to be her new behavior. Well, for the past 2days I have had to run errands and her behavior is consistent with last week's throwing incident. What happened to my little girl???? Oh, she is a bit of a pill to swallow when shopping now.... yet she can still smile, wave, blow kisses, say HI and Bye, to all that pass her by. I often get remarks of how cute she is .....hmm, yet mommy knows the other side of her all too well. I am learning of a deep and unconditional love for Tristen as she tests my patience and very sanity at times. I think if I didn't develop this "new and deeper" love for my child I would never leave my house and even attempt to take Tristen out in public (plus I think she would be in time out 24/7)......I hope this new phase is just a phase and that she comes out of it fairly fast. Oh, but I am doubting it....I think the terrible twos are here to stay atleast for a short while.
